Volunteer Warehouse Associate

Summary: The Volunteer Warehouse Associate will perform a variety of tasks depending on project deadlines in the Open Arms Community Food Pantry. This will include keeping the pantry stocked and other tasks as assigned by the Food Pantry Manager. This position helps to extend the resources in Open Arms Community Food Pantry to better assist and direct the needs of our clients.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
* Daily stock and rotate canned goods as part of food pantry operations.
* Assist with the distribution of SHARE and Commodities food supplies.
* Receive Food Pantry donations.
* Assists with pickups of donated food items.
* Help Pack Food Boxes
* Load & Unload Food Truck
* Sort Non & Perishable Food items
*All other tasks as assigned.
Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent experience preferred but not required. Demonstrate good organizational skills, oral and written communication skills. Computer skills are desired, but not required. Physical expectations: have physical stamina to fulfill all work requirements during assigned working hours; able to lift 40 lbs. on a regular basis. If possible, available on some Saturdays and Sundays to work with special collections of food. Must be dependable and punctual. Be courteous and personable when dealing with the public. Be self-directed, willing to take initiative, and detail oriented. Respect and maintain confidentiality OACP’s volunteers and clients.

Training & Supervision: Attends general volunteer orientation. Completes a program orientation which includes training on the following items: Database tutorial Donation tutorial Pantry tutorial Training and supervision conducted by: Food Pantry Manager or designated trainer

Time Commitment: Days: Weekdays (Monday through Friday) Time: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm or 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm
