Join our Intake team!
Greet neighbors in the lobby as they arrive to visit the food pantry, chat with them briefly to learn more about their needs, and guide them to the next step in their visit.
This position can be done from a standing or stationary seated position. Training to use our database is provided.
What would make you a good fit for this opportunity?
- You are 18+ years old
- You are very comfortable interacting with people from many cultures and backgrounds , using translation tools when needed
- You can remain calm in a busy setting
- You are very comfortable using the internet on an iPad and navigating online forms
- You can volunteer 2-4x/mo during any of these 'mix and match’ shifts:
- Wheaton
- Thursdays, 12:30-3:15pm
- Westmont
- Tuesdays or Wednesday, 12:30-3:15pm
- Thursdays, 4:30-8:30pm

Description
Since 1975, People’s Resource Center has been bringing neighbors together to respond to hunger and poverty in DuPage County. With a team of over 1,500 volunteers, we offer nutritious food and other basic necessities like clothes and rent assistance for people facing tough times. And we connect people with resources--education and tutoring, jobs, technology, art, a caring community--to create a future of hope and opportunity for all.
Volunteer at PRC: Help in the food pantry or clothes closet, become a tutor, teach a class, organize a food drive, make a difference to a neighbor in need.
