We are a mission-driven non-profit in Martinez, CA that covers the whole of Contra Costa County. We are open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9-4 and the third Saturday of the month from 10-2. You may choose your own hours, as long as they are regular. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are most critical right now. With training, you will scan large documents and work on a specific archive project. You will also participate in our Annual Scan-a-Thon in March of this year.

The mission of the Contra Costa County Historical Society is to preserve, protect, and provide public access to the records and heritage of Contra Costa County, CA.
Description
The Contra Costa County Historical Society was established as a 501(c)3 non-profit educational
organization in 1951 and incorporated in 1972 for the purpose of discovering, preserving, and sharing
knowledge about the history of Contra Costa County. Since 1980, the Society has maintained the Contra CostamCounty History Center for public access and use of its marvelous archive of historical records of people andevents in the county. The History Center archives contain a vast number of unique historical records thatpreserve and document Contra Costa's history, with documents from the 1830s onward. In addition, the Superior Court has designated the Society the repository of its official historical court records.
