Volunteers in this position will be responsible for helping keep the shelter clean and presentable. In this position, volunteers may be responsible for sweeping, mopping, taking out trash, washing windows, dusting, and organizing the store room. Volunteers will take pride knowing their efforts help keep the shelter animals safe and the shelter presentable to the adopting public.

Description
Serving Monroe County (IL) since 2002, Helping Strays is a shelter that rescues kittens, cats, puppies, and dogs. Helping Strays intakes animals regardless of age or medical condition, rehabilitating them if necessary, and providing them shelter, food, and medical care until they can find their forever homes. In 2017, Helping Strays adopted 598 animals back into the community. Since its start, the organization has helped 4,709 animals find their forever homes. Helping Strays works with other shelters, as well as the Monroe County Animal Control to take in animals. The shelter also takes strays found in the area and owner surrenders from anywhere. As the shelter does not euthanize for space, animals that come to the shelter are here until they can find their permanent homes.
