Our US military service members are very thankful for the care packages they receive while deployed. However, many women in the Armed Forces wish they could receive packages more specifically geared for them as females. Operation Courage is Beautiful, a 501(c)3 non-profit, fulfills that wish by sending care packages full of women’s personal care products (e.g. soap, face wash, shampoo, conditioner, feminine hygiene), women’s magazines and notes of encouragement and appreciation. Many recipients tell us that we have sent the "best" care package they have ever received.

Description
We are seeking passionate, skilled, dedicated volunteers to join our board in support of the mission of Operation Courage is Beautiful: "To bring a little joy and femininity to our active duty, deployed, US servicewomen through care packages geared for women."

Experience with the military is recommended but not required. You must be comfortable using email and telephone/web conferencing tools, and Google Drive.

Operation Courage is Beautiful is a volunteer-led 501(c)3 non-profit. Since starting our program, we have sent over 30 tons of products to locations across the globe. In the last two years, we have sent over 2000 care packages and have worked in partnership with local businesses such as Qualcomm and Genentech, local high schools and service organizations. We receive in-kind and monetary donations locally and across the nation.

This is a great opportunity to not only support our service members but also meet other service-oriented people, express your gratitude and patriotism, work with diverse volunteers, use your creativity, put on events, and further develop your skills. It is a very rewarding experience!

Board Responsibilities
Aside from administrative duties, such as the maintenance of non-profit status, by-laws and tax filings, our board is a working board and that develops strategic planning, supports packaging events and committees in the areas of fundraising, events, marketing/public relations, finance and administration/technology. These committees support and work in conjunction with the Executive Director, a volunteer manager. Note that participation in packaging events is physically demanding.

Location:
Board members should live in the San Diego area, preferably in the near vicinity of the 92129 zip code so as to best support our work.

Time Commitment:
Board meetings are held once every quarter with special board meetings as needed. Committees meet as needed. Events are scheduled approximately 6-8 times a year. Board membership is established annually on a calendar year. Estimated time commitment: 1-3 hours per week minimum.
