Great Strides Atlanta Needs You!

Saturday- May 19, 2018 at Suwanee Town Center http://fightcf.cff.org/GreatStridesATL

Great Strides Atlanta Presented by Snellings Walters Insurance Agency is proud to be the largest cystic fibrosis walk in the country, raising over $2.2 million through the help of 3,500 walkers. The walk provides a fantastic opportunity for family, friends, students, and colleagues to come together and make a difference in the lives of people with CF. The event harnesses the power of people with a shared vision and encourages collaboration, team building, and leadership, as we collectively take steps to find a cure.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Rachel Abernathy at (404) 325-6973 or rabernathy@cff.org.

WHAT IS CYSTIC FIBROSIS?

Cystic fibrosis is a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time. In people with CF, a defective gene causes a thick, buildup of mucus in the lungs, pancreas and other organs. In the lungs, the mucus clogs the airways and traps bacteria leading to infections, extensive lung damage and eventually, respiratory failure. In the pancreas, the mucus prevents the release of digestive enzymes that allow the body to break down food and absorb vital nutrients.
