UPO Foster Grandparent Program is seeking volunteers to serve on the Foster Grandparent Program's Advisory Board Committee. The role of an Advisory Board Committee member will be to provide leadership and support to the program's fundraising, volunteer training, program policies, marketing, program resource development and data management. The committee has quarterly full meetings and subcommittees meet as required.
The Foster Grandparent Program annually provides volunteer service opportunities for over 200 persons 55 years old and older. Most volunteers live at 200% or less than the poverty income guidelines. These dedicated Grandmas and Grandpas volunteer at 50 locations in the District of Columbia. The volunteer sites include 24 Early Learning / Head Start Centers, 13 District of Columbia Public Schools, 9 DC Public Charter Schools, 3 hospitals and 1 youth program. Foster Grandparents provide over 175,000 hours of service to disadvantaged students every year. As part of the national network of Foster Grandparent Program we celebrated 55 years of service and need you to help us navigate the next 50 years.
