Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) at Alliance for African Assistance. My name is Lamar Jackson and I am the site coordinator for our organization Alliance for African Assistance (AAA) VITA Program. We will be assisting low income families and refugees from Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of Congo and other countries with their federal and state income tax.

AAA is a nonprofit organization founded in 1989 in San Diego, California. It was started by a refugee and he realized the importance of addressing many needs of San Diego’s growing African refugee population. We provide social, cultural, and educational support, and guidance to all refugees in their resettlement process as well as assist them in getting acclimated in the American culture. Additionally, we empower and assist singles and couples in becoming self sufficient and independent through a program called Wilson Fish Program. We assist them with job readiness workshop, financial workshop, acculturation workshop and also work with employers to get them job opportunities.

There are 3 areas that we are in need of help and the qualifications for each:

1. Greeter/intake/interview/ interpreter -need to pass two tests standards of conduct and intake/interview.
2. Basic Level - need to pass three tests standards of conduct, intake/interview and basic test.
3. Advanced Level -need to standards of conduct, intake/interview and advanced test.

I would like to reiterate please inform me the times you would like to volunteer, what area do you want to work, which training You can also go online to get the training and take the test online. Before you start volunteering I need to see your certifications.
