Destiny’s Daughters of Promise is a Georgia-based, nonprofit organization whose mission is to mentor and train young girls. The organization was founded with the goal to strengthen the fundamental components needed for young women to excel in leadership and basic life skills. Destiny’s Daughters of Promise is committed to providing programs and opportunities for teen girls that would help them excel in leadership, community involvement, education, and personal growth and development.

The role of the finance committee is primarily to provide financial oversight for the organization working under the direct supervision of the Board Treasurer on the below tasks:

  • Develop annual budgets with Treasurer, CEO, and staff
  • Monitor adherence to the budget
  • Set long-range financial goals along with the funding strategies to achieve them
  • Develop multi-year operating budgets that integrate strategic plan objectives and initiatives
  • Present all financial goals and proposals to the board of directors for approval
  • Create, approve, and update (as necessary) policies that help ensure the assets of the organization are protected
  • Ensure policies and procedures for financial transactions are documented in a manual, and the manual is reviewed annually, and updated as necessary
  • Ensure approved financial policies and procedures are being followed by management
  • Research and recommend the CPA for the filing of Form 990 and recommend an Audit firm for annual audits
  • Assist the CEO and fundraising committee by providing financial information for the completion of grants and sponsorships
  • Review, evaluate and approve all event budgets and contracts to ensure that they are within the organization’s overall budget goals and comply with insurance policy
  • Review and update insurance policies (health care, general liability, workers compensation, etc.) on a quarterly basis to ensure the organization is in compliance and that the coverage meets the organization’s growth and goals
  • Attend fundraising committee and events committee meetings
  • Provide training to staff and oversight for the collection of funds at events
