Looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity but have limited time to spare? Volunteering with Newton at Home may be just what you've been looking for. Newton at Home is a membership organization created to provide Newton seniors with support and social connections that help them remain in their homes as they age.
Many of the more than 200 members are in need of in home projects/handyman projects and minor repairs such as changing lightbulbs or fire alarm batteries, taking out trash barrels and seasonal tasks such as installation or removal of air conditioners and storm windows.
You volunteer when it is convenient for you, choosing from a long list of requests each week. Busy for the week? No problem. Just don't respond. Able to give a few hours while the kids are in school? Sign up for the job of your choice. You will be rewarded by meeting some of the most remarkable Newton residents while you perform a vital community service. Our mission is to create a caring community of neighbors helping neighbors that provides Newton seniors, as they age, with practical services and social opportunities that enable them to remain in their own homes and apartments leading active, connected lives with greater independence and security.
Newton at Home is a non-profit, grassroots organization that is community-based and is working to create a collaborative model of services that can impact how and where we live as we grow older.
We envision Newton at Home as building on the vibrancy and diversity of Newton's neighborhoods, services and village centers to provide Newton residents over the age of 60 and their families with access to social, health and wellness, timely and practical, quality support services.
