ORGANIZATION: Redemptive Work

  • 9 people are interested

Redemptive Work is an innovative non-profit delivering care, education, and services to displaced people who struggle with disabilities, homelessness and who may have been formerly incarcerated. We are looking for Content Editors to help maintain brand voice, style consistency, and good grammar to help us create the best content for RW and her client's. You’ll report to the Executive Director and work with the copywriters, designers, and project owners.

You will touch all our content, including all marketing output, web copy (in front of and behind the firewall), and any other content we deliver both internally and externally. You’re a creative, curious, can-do professional who will maintain our brand voice, editorial and brand standards and styles, and doesn’t have to pay attention to deadlines because you get things off your plate as you get them. You have an amazing attention to detail and strive for editorial perfection. You’re a self-starter, comfortable working autonomously and with a group, tactical, and approach tasks hands-on while being aware of the bigger picture. You’ll edit copy weekly.

Responsibilities:

  • Review, edit, and proofread all copy for brand adherence, grammatical correctness, and accessibility
  • Ensure quality: no extra character spaces, no misaligned rows, definitely no typos or grammar weirdness
  • Ensure content consistency across campaigns
  • Research and check facts, claims, best practices
  • Correct errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation, style, tone, and usage
  • Clarify ambiguities and inaccuracies with the writer or project owner
  • Ensure that text is structured logically and coherently and tells the right story

Mission Statement

Making sustainable living a reality for displaced or seemingly unemployable persons.

Description

Redemptive Work (RW) is dedicated to making sustainable living a reality for displaced and seemingly unemployable persons.

RW serves homeless, previously incarcerated, and disabled persons navigating barriers to sustainable living. Our work began when Rev. Dr. Tina Carter joined RW Executive Director Rev. Dr. Mindy Johnson-Hicks in writing The Wealth of Poverty (Outskirts Press, 2013); an exploration of the ways authentic relationships across socio-economic groups enables collective prosperity. During this collaboration, it became apparent that under-served populations of homeless, previously incarcerated and disabled people shared common barriers to finding employment, housing, and healthcare. RW incorporated in 2013 to learn to navigate those barriers. We meet with people weekly, one-on-one, to discuss goals and strategies necessary to achieve sustainability beyond societal barriers. People need adequate work, safe shelter and access to health care and we are here to ensure a community is present to help them find all three. We also help people overcome obstacles by coaching them to fill out forms for jobs or obtaining a Driver's License or Social Security Card, government benefits. We help people face the challenges that so often prevent marginalized persons from re-engaging in society in a sustainable way. We also help our clients to understand what their strengths are instigating self-advocacy in a profoundly disenfranchising system.
