Groups of volunteers are needed at the Philadelphia Furniture Bank to help move and build furniture. The Furniture Bank gets donated furniture and gives it to people exiting homelessness and shelters.
Tasks can include:
- Acting as a personal shopper to help participants choose their new furniture
- Assisting with donation pickups and furniture deliveries
- Assembling, painting, or repairing furniture
- Administrative work and data entry
The Philadelphia Furniture Bank is open for individual or group volunteers Monday through Thursday from 10:00am-3:30pm.

Description
The Housing First model is simple: provide housing first, and then combine that housing with supportive treatment services in the areas of mental and physical health, substance abuse, education, and employment. Housing is provided in apartments scattered throughout the city of Philadelphia. This "scattered site" model fosters a sense of home and self-determination, and it helps speed the reintegration of Pathways clients into the community. Our goal is for people to become part of the community, and not just live in the community.
