A Hua Kids
Some new friends of the Trellis Team that we met on a cultural excursion to A Hua Village in central Vietnam.

Trellis is a non-profit organization which uses education as a tool to uplift individuals and communities. We offer comprehensive volunteer, work experience, and job-placement assistance programs for people who want to travel, teach, and live overseas. Whether you’re on a gap year, taking a semester off or just recently graduated, Trellis’ Volunteer and Work Experience Program is perfect for those of you who wish to make your travels productive by creating meaningful experiences, developing in-demand skills, and supporting local communities.

Trellis' nonprofit volunteer program takes place in the beautiful coastal city of Da Nang, Vietnam. Da Nang is located on the coast of central Vietnam. In addition to being the commercial and educational hub of the area, it also lies in close proximity to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites as well as the Imperial City of Hue, the quaint and picturesque town of Hoi An, and Vietnam's famous My Son ruins. A little-known fact about Da Nang is that it was the first place American G.I.'s landed during the Vietnam War. Needless to say, the city is teeming with culture and character, both old and new. In fact, Da Nang is currently experiencing a wave of modernization to coincide with its rich history; rapid urbanization and population growth as well as a vast influx of tourism and foreign investment has created a unique juxtaposition of tradition and technology. It's a truly distinct time in the city's development and we're lucky to be experiencing it!

Trellis provides its volunteers with all the training, support, and experience necessary to confidently and constructively teach a foreign language, all within the context of a safe and structured classroom environment. Our volunteers are young adults who want to explore the world and help others while pursuing their own individual aspirations. Upon completion of our program, Trellis can assist our volunteers with securing full-time teaching positions through our network of partners in Japan and Vietnam if they wish to continue onward with their journey overseas. By doing this, we hope to increase access to effective foreign language education globally.

As a Trellis Volunteer, you will be responsible for all aspects of planning and conducting your educational lessons and activities. While transportation to your worksite is provided by Trellis, you are responsible for being ready on time for pick up. While all the support you need is provided before, during, and after your time with Trellis, we encourage our volunteers to be confident and independent. You will also be expected to be present at various Trellis-related events throughout the course of the program.

Trellis is a 100% non-profit organization which relies primarily on program fees to sustain and grow our nonprofit activities. That means any and all program fees and donation dollars go directly towards enhancing and expanding our non-profit educational activities and that nobody is making a profit off of your hard work and dedication.

Trellis' Volunteer and Work Experience Program fee includes:

  • Logistical support before, during, and after your arrival in Vietnam
  • Structured and robust training methods to prepare you for your time as an English Language Teacher
  • Small class sizes of between 6 and 8 students. This will allow you to better transition into a classroom environment and enhance your student’s learning potential by ensuring more one-on-one time with instructors and more opportunity for addressing a student’s individual needs.
  • Accommodation
  • Orientation and airport pickup
  • Daily transportation to and from your work site
  • Comprehensive pre-departure informational package
  • Immersion in the beautiful country and culture of Vietnam
  • Job-placement assistance
  • Certificate of Completion
