The Center for the Integration & Advancement of New Americans (CIANA) is a social services organization that works to integrate new immigrants from the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia and Latin America into the socio-economic and civic life of American society while maintaining pride in their cultural heritage

We are looking for a social media intern to inspire our pro-immigration allies and turn them into donors and activists. Your role will be to design and optimize our content across our social media platforms and come up with creative ideas while maintaining our core identity and values.

Responsibilities:

  • Regularly update content on CIANA’s Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts to increase engagement and awareness
  • Collaborate with communications and development team to devise strategies/campaigns to solicit donors, volunteers, clients, businesses, and elected officials
  • Track outcomes of various communication techniques (email campaigns, Facebook posts, videos, etc), and solidify best practices
  • Create and compile photos and video from events to highlight CIANA’s vibrant community
  • Create graphics that demonstrate CIANA’s core identity and values

Qualifications:**

  • Current or recent undergraduates pursuing or hold a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, graphic design, or a related field

Requirements:

  • Being a self-starter
  • A passion for creating content embodying our current brand design
  • One or more of the following:
  • Knowledge of adobe software (inDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Experience with executing successful campaigns on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter

Bonus Points:

  • Willingness to attend events and live tweet on behalf of CIANA
  • Experience with photography, video production, and editing
  • Passionate about advancing immigrant rights
  • Fluency or bilingualism in another language (especially Arabic, Bengali, and Spanish)

Compensation: Unpaid

Hours: 10-15 per week; flexible

Description

Immigrants and refugees will be provided with the tools to emerge from poverty, isolation, and linguistic barriers to become full, productive American citizens. Our services promote family well-being and stability, provide counseling and support services, and expose newcomers to the social, economic and educational opportunities available to them. Professional social services will include ESOL and civics classes, citizenship preparation, adult literacy, child welfare and youth services, legal and immigration assistance, financial literacy, micro credit and finance, employment assistance, and information and referral services. Newcomers will gain a deeper understanding of western culture and how to incorporate its positive qualities into their lives without fear of losing their culture and identity; it will help them shape an identity that encompasses the best of both worlds and prevents their isolation and marginalization.
