When we hear that the weather is going turn bad in the winter we often head to the grocery store. However, there are many home-bound people in our community who are unable to stock their shelves for winter weather.

Shepherd’s Center of Kansas City Central is working to provide emergency winter food packs to all 250+ Meals on Wheels clients once a month February-April. These packs will have items such as soup, peanut butter, canned chicken, and crackers. They are intended for days that we are unable to deliver due to poor weather conditions. We have already experienced 2 "weather" days this winter and I hate to think that our clients are going without food.

Deliveries will go out on Saturday, February 17th. Clients will be informed to expect a delivery and will contact us if other arrangements need to be made. Pick up will be from 9 am- 12pm at 3501 Campbell. Each route will have approximately 10 clients to deliver to, and should take no more than 2 hours to complete. We serve members of the community from 31st Street to 85th Street and Stateline to east of Highway 71 in Kansas City, MO.March and April dates and times TBD.
