Friendly Visiting New York - JCCGCI
Join our family!

Have some extra time? Enjoy conversation? Have a like for kittens and Cats? Well, here is a great opportunity!

Friendly Visiting NY, funded through Citymeals on Wheels, has partnered up with NYC Department for the Aging to help alleviate isolation in the senior population.

1 hour a week is all it takes. Although our office is located in Coney Island, we serve seniors across Brooklyn and can try to accommodate our volunteer requests. Whether you prefer a female, someone in your area that you can walk to, or someone who enjoys cards games, there is a senior who will enjoy your presence.

Mission Statement

The Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island is a 501(c)(3) private not-for-profit tax-exempt organization founded in 1973 to provide a wide range of social services to South Brooklyn's low income residents and to foster neighborhood stabilization. During the past decade the council has experienced extraordinary growth and became the central address for services of all segments of the population including the aged, the vocationally disadvantaged poor, refugees, and educationally at-risk youth. In addition, the council provides non-profit community based organizations with technical assistance in upgrading their management capacity.

Friendly Visiting, a project of JCCGCI, offers a unique opportunity for a group of volunteers who reach out to homebound individuals. We are a dynamic and diverse group of volunteers or "Friendly Visitors " who visit homebound individuals each week. Every member of our team is willing and eager to share their time with someone who is older, wiser, and has had a lifetime of experience. Our visitors come from all ages and are available to provide companionship, reading assistance (reading mail or a favorite news / magazine article), light grocery shopping, support and more.
