Making Seed Bombs

Volunteers are needed to assist with a field trip program for 5th grade students. Last month, students made seed pods/balls that include native plant seeds. Now, students will disperse these seed pods in the park. Volunteers will assist staff with educational activities and seed pod dispersal. No experience necessary. Must be willing to engage children in this learning activity and must be willing to handle seed balls made of garden soil and be prepared to spend the duration of the field trip walking / standing outside.

Description

The Volunteers-In-Parks program is a joint program with Mississippi Park Connection. Mississippi National River and Recreation Area represents America's greatest river, the Mississippi, which weaves together the natural and cultural heritage and economic vitality of the region. The National Park Service works with partners to foster increased citizen awareness, advocacy, and enjoyment of the resources of the Mississippi River.

Volunteer-In-Parks provides people with opportunities to discover, experience, and enjoy the diversity of the Mississippi River while also preserving it for future generations through volunteer restoration projects and education programs.
