REGIONAL SPORTS MANAGEMENT INTERNS - SANTA ANA
LOCATION: Orange County Regional office - 2428 N. Grand Ave. Suite A, Santa Ana, CA, 92705
DATES & TIMES:
February 1 - June 12, June 20 - September 2, August 1 - November 13, 2018;
10-20 hours per week, attendance at Spring & Fall Regional Games and local/area tournaments.
Positions Available: 1 per time period
The Sports & Field Operations department assists all regions in the development and implementation of sports competitions throughout Southern California. The department assists with coach’s education and athlete training, development of local programs across Southern California, and hosts the championship games each season. Regional Sports Management Interns will work closely with local Special Olympics staff in both coordinating and implementing competitions, events, and programs. Responsibilities include:
- Provide hands-on support in planning and developing Regional and local sports competitions and programs
- Assist with managing the volunteer and sports training seasons
- Registration for "away" competitions, volunteer recruitment and management
- Coach’s education and management
- Work with School organizations, Parks & Recreation, and/or other community resources
Supervisor: Senior Manager, Sports & Programs and/or Regional Sports Manager
Additional Requirements:
- Strong organizational and people skills with a focus on customer service
- Able to work independently and in a team environment
- High level of proficiency using relevant technology including Microsoft software: Word, Excel, Outlook and ability to learn additional software programs
- Must complete Volunteer Application (Class A), be cleared through the Background Check Screening, and complete the Online Protective Behavior Course
