Senior Service Associates, Inc. has positions available for our volunteer Ombudsman Program. The word "ombudsman" is a Swedish term meaning "citizen’s advocate," and your top priority after being properly trained, would be to advocate, empower, represent and intervene on behalf of residents residing in short or long term care facilities. By being the eyes and ears of the Ombudsman Program, you would visit assisted livings and long term care nursing facilities in Kane, Kendall or McHenry counties. You would listen to resident’s voice the concerns they may be having during their stay and report those concerns to the Volunteer Ombudsman coordinator who will guide you on how to handle the situation.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer Ombudsman, please contact Tina Dolan at 630-897-4035 or tdolan@seniorservicesassoc.org for more information.
