All-volunteer non-profit organization in Detroit seeks an enthusiastic volunteer to give tours of our historic building. We are participating in an historic theaters bus tour on the first and third Sunday of the month throughout the year, with the bus arriving at our stop at approximately 2:45. Training and a tour script will be provided, a pair of volunteers is needed for each date. It is an exciting time in Detroit and we are enthusiastic about renewal of our theater and our neighborhood commercial corridor, and invite you to help share our story with visitors from around our region.

Mission Statement
Activation and restoration of the historic Alger Theater in Detroit to create a regional destination for arts, culture, preservation and community.
Description
The Friends of the Alger Theater are an all-volunteer nonprofit organization and owners of the 1935 neighborhood cinema on Detroit's east side. Our vision of a restored theater into flexible public space adaptive to community needs and desires drives our efforts. Renovations to date for the theater have stabilized the building and addressed life safety issues. A rooftop patio was constructed in 2017 over the adjacent storefronts and the opening ceremony is planned for Spring 2918.
