ORGANIZATION: Sierra Club San Francisco Bay Chapter
Please visit the new page to apply.
The Sierra Club Tree Team is looking for a volunteer who can contact property owners and prepare sites for tree plantings, as well as keep the necessary records. Volunteer tasks will include distributing Tree Request Forms (TRFs) to property owners (via email or on paper), collecting TRFs, and communicating with the property owners (via email or phone) regarding the tree planting process, as well as transcribing new requests into our database. This position will also include two or three successive visits to each address: marking an Underground Service Alert and then submitting it online; meeting with the property owner to mark tree locations and possible concrete removal; and verifying the site’s readiness to plant (if concrete was removed or signs were moved). Travel around Oakland is required for this position.
Typical time commitment: Moderate but constant, 1-2 hours per address in total, possibly 4-12 or more hours per week, depending on the number and locations of requests to be processed. Days and times may be flexible but may require accommodating the owners’ schedules.
