Drive a Senior - North Central Austin is establishing a van program that will expand our current capacity to assist people getting to grocery stores and other needed shopping. The development of this program is just beginning! We are looking for someone who will enjoy facilitating the design and implementation, and possible maintenance, of this new program.
Purpose: Coordinating with the Executive Director and Service Coordinator, to design and facilitate the van program. It will be modeled after other agencies’ van programs, in particular one with whom we will be sharing a van.
Time: Approximately 4 hours a week
Exact times are flexible
Implementation of the program is planned for April 3, 2018
Location: Drive a Senior - North Central Austin’s office
901 W. Braker Lane (St. Vincent de Paul Building)
Locations of activities will vary from at the office or meetings at other locations.
Skills
Required: Proficiency at organizing projects
Attention to detail
Experience with Excel, Word, Gmail
Experience using a PC
Comfortable handling telephone calls from clients
Will be trained on Assisted Rides software.

Description
Drive a Senior - North Central Austin provides services to older adults living in the central and north Austin areas. Seniors are over 65 years old and no longer driving. Volunteers are the backbone of our agency and the services we provide. All services are provided free to our clients. We predominantly provide transportation to medical appointments. We also give rides to purchase groceries, post office, and other needs. Volunteers also can choose to make friendly visits, do yard work and minor home repairs, or answer client calls to scheduled rides. Volunteers also are needed for special projects.
