We are looking for grant writing volunteers who specialize in federal / state / county grants to work with our Development Director on researching, identifying, and applying for government grants. This is a remote position with a flexible time commitment. Please have Gmail and Google Drive. Wesley House Student Residence, a 501c3 nonprofit, is currently the only below market rate affordable housing option exclusively for at-risk college students in the San Diego, CA area. Our student residents face challenges such as formally experiencing homelessness, aging out of the foster system, and/or being the first generation in their family to go to college. We have a limited staff and budget and are looking for volunteers to help us work on government grants. Please check us out on our website at www.wesleysdsu.org and social media. We look forward to hearing from you!

Mission Statement

Wesley House Student Residence (WHSR) empowers system-impacted students, including those who have aged out of foster care, were formerly incarcerated &/or are homeless, to realize their post-secondary education goals through affordable/subsidized housing and a network of services. Our programs are designed to end homelessness and foster resilience and self-confidence as our residents achieve their academic and career goals.

Description

Wesley House Student Residence is a nonprofit 501c(3) organization operating the only affordable supportive housing complex serving low-income and systemically marginalized college students in San Diego County. Our student residents face additional challenges such as experiencing housing insecurity/ homelessness, being formerly incarcerated and/or aging out of the foster care system. Many are the first generation in their family to attend college. We currently operate in one location with 11 units serving 24 student residents. In addition to housing, we offer an onsite food pantry, targeted monthly programs, and individualized wraparound support services. Our community food pantry provides nutritious food to more than 400 students. Please reach out to us to learn more!
