Jumpstart, an early literacy non-profit, is partnering with the Portola Branch of the SFPL to host local preschool children for a celebration of literacy. After a shared reading from the librarian, volunteers will facilitate activities with the children to engage them in the content of the book.

About Jumpstart Northern California
Location:
235 Montgomery Street, Suite 1025, San Francisco, CA 94111, US
Mission Statement
Jumpstart is a national early education organization working toward the day every child in America enters school prepared to succeed.
Description
Jumpstart aims to close the gap in educational achievement between children from low-income communities and their wealthier peers, before that gap appears. In pursuit of this goal, Jumpstart recruits and trains college students, called Corps members, to help preschool-aged children in low-income neighborhoods develop the language, literacy, and social skills they need to succeed in kindergarten and beyond. Jumpstart inspires children to learn, young adults to teach and lead, families to become more involved in their children’s education, and communities to progress together.
