The Visitacion Valley Branch of the San Francisco Public Library is hosting an Open House for all children and families in the neighborhood to sign up for library cards, meet librarians, play games, and of course: read! Jumpstart, an early literacy non-profit, will be bringing interactive activities for the children, and need volunteers to help facilitate these activities, giving children more one on one attention.

About Jumpstart Northern California
Location:
235 Montgomery Street, Suite 1025, San Francisco, CA 94111, US
Mission Statement
Jumpstart is a national early education organization working toward the day every child in America enters school prepared to succeed.
Description
Jumpstart aims to close the gap in educational achievement between children from low-income communities and their wealthier peers, before that gap appears. In pursuit of this goal, Jumpstart recruits and trains college students, called Corps members, to help preschool-aged children in low-income neighborhoods develop the language, literacy, and social skills they need to succeed in kindergarten and beyond. Jumpstart inspires children to learn, young adults to teach and lead, families to become more involved in their children’s education, and communities to progress together.
