A 51 year old gentleman is living with ALS and is being cared for by his wife, who works full-time, and his 24 year old son. They’d like help with cleaning - dusting, vacuuming, mopping the floors, cleaning the bathrooms, and changing their sheets - and laundry every week for two hours. The best days for a volunteer to help would be Monday or Friday but they’re open to Saturday or Sunday as well.
Doing these chores for the family will ease their stress, free up their time for other things, and give them a clean and calm place to live. What is ALS?
ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) is a degenerative disease of the central nervous system. ALS results in the progressive weakness of voluntary muscles which often leads to total paralysis. There is no known cause or cure for ALS. People with ALS typically live between two and five years after being diagnosed.
How does The ALS Association help?
We fulfill our mission by offering programs, services, and equipment free of charge to anyone affected by ALS residing in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
