Catholic Migration Services in need of a volunteer interpreter and translator in the Haitian Creole language. The volunteer would work closely with Haitian asylum seeker and their attorney in the preparation of an application for asylum before the U.S. Government. The volunteer would interpret during a few attorney-client meetings for 2-4 hours and the volunteer must commit to attending ALL attorney-client meetings in-person at our Brooklyn office (we will work around your schedule). The volunteer will also translate documents related to the case from Haitian Creole to English. NOTE: the volunteer must be culturally aware and have good communication skills. The information communicated by the client may be sensitive and the volunteer is expected to follow all CMS policies regarding confidentiality.
