At Grady, we believe family and friends play an important role in the healing process. We want to ensure that not only our patients but our visitors are supported during their visit. To make that happen, Grady volunteers stationed in family waiting rooms assist with monitoring security access, outlining amenities, walking families to and from unit, making reminder phone calls to patients, tidying up family waiting area, stocking supplies and performing basic clerical tasks. Ideal candidates for this volunteer assignment are able to adapt to what’s needed, from walking or sitting for extended periods of time, organized, friendly, and enjoy assisting with administrative tasks.

Time Commitment: Weekly four-hour shifts between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Grady Health System is looking to utilize volunteers to assist at our Information Desk with wheelchair transport and way-finding throughout the hospital as well as with baking and serving warm cookies to the friends and family of our surgical patients.
