Tidewell Hospice has opened a new Hospice House near the intersection of Rangeland Parkway and Lakewood Ranch BLVD. Volunteers are needed for shifts throughout the day, 7 days per week, (8-11, 11-2, 2-5, and 5-8) to help with greeting/directing visitors or helping our staff answer call lights, interact with families, and sit at bedsides of those with no family members. Volunteers are also needed to provide baked goods for our family area- a small gesture that makes the family areas seem so homelike. Majority of the shift needs are for patient support roles, but some greeter slots are still available.
Training is provided. We ask for a one year commitment of a regular shift and level 2 fingerprinting/TB testing are required.
Tidewell Hospice's mission is to provide the highest quality of care that embraces a comprehensive continuum of services for patients and families dealing with advanced illness
Tidewell is an independent, not-for-profit organization offering a home-based, total support system for patients and families dealing with a life-limiting illness, serving more than 1100 patients a day in Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte and DeSoto counties. Volunteers are part of the Hospice Team that offers supportive medical, emotional, spiritual and volunteer services to patients and families who are facing difficulties at the end of life. Hospice volunteers are concerned individuals who willingly give of their time and talents to help Hospice families in many ways. They come from all walks of life, bonded by the mutual desire to serve the community.
