Our chess club is located across the street from Ft. Mahan national park in Ward 7 N.e Washington D.C. Our chess club has agreed to adopt Ft. Mahan and to clean it up regularly. Ft. Mahan is directly across the street from Dorothy Height Library where we play chess. This is a part of an initiative to clean up in Washington D.C over the next few years. https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=o3P4KJ5Gh8Q
Our goal is to get residents of Ward 7 Washington D.C to come out and join us with our clean ups starting with the members of our chess club (Youth focused on).
We host tournaments and give lessons @ Dorothy Height Library Mon -Fri 5pm-9pm for free. In exchange for this we require the youth in our program to participate in our regular clean ups in Ward 7 Washington D.C which also happens to be the area of the city we all live in. Below are some of the videos of our prior clean ups of Ft. Mahan park And pics from our facebook page.
Our youth students are progressing and now we would like to do some advance chess instruction with our them on Thursdays. We are now going to be working on chess opening's and more advance chess theories on Thursdays. We would like to serve dinner and we have a caterer who will volunteer his services to cook dinner for us. He happens to play chess and he happens to live across the street from the library where our Thursday chess lessons will take place. We need people to help us raise the food donations for Thursday chess Demonstration. Aside from helping with collecting donated food and finding donated food we need volunteers to participate in our chess programs during the week between 5pm and 9pm and our upcoming chess tournaments.
Thank you if you are interested in contributing to our chess program please contact Mark Bey @firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks for all of the support to past and future volunteers lets make 2018 more productive and fun than 2017 was.
