ADULT TOUR DOCENTS - TRAINING BEGINS MARCH 7!
We are putting out an open call for volunteers to train as adult tour docents to guide visiting groups through the Garden. You don't need to have a botanical or horticultural background to be an adult tour docent. Our staff will teach you everything you need to know. Volunteers just need to have a passion for gardening and an appreciation for Quarryhill Botanical Garden-not only as a modern-day ark of rare and beautiful plants, but a place where education and conservation are at the heart of its mission. Learn about our history and the plants in our Asian Woodland collection then share that knowledge and your enthusiasm with visitors from all over the world.
Adult Tour Docent training will be held on six consecutive Wednesdays, March 7 through April 11 from 9:30 to noon. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of plant conservation worldwide, in depth information about the plants and knowledge of the garden’s unique history. Docent trainees will enjoy regular educational walks through the Garden, learning from seasoned docents and knowledgeable staff, and will acquire the skills and techniques necessary to engage visitors as they tour Quarryhill.
