Mission Statement

The San Francisco Maritime National Park Association is a non-profit organization that brings maritime history to life through support of maritime preservation and education programs, at the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park and at the USS Pampanito WWII Submarine and Memorial

Description

Through the Golden Gate, the sea links San Francisco to the region, the nation, and the world. These connections have been fundamental to the development of our region, its peoples, and their lives.

We work to preserve the maritime history of the Pacific Coast. We believe the maritime story has meaning and value to all communities. We provide innovative programs and exhibitions, which actively engage and immerse children and adults from all backgrounds in the traditions, craft, and spirit of our maritime heritage. We are committed to providing opportunities for all socio-economic communities to learn more about our collective maritime heritage.

The collections and historic vessels of the National Park Service and Association are authentic witnesses of maritime actions, people, and ideas. In all of our work, we support the Park's work to preserve the National treasures entrusted to its care and we are responsible stewards of our World War II submarine USS Pampanito.
