ORGANIZATION: YWCA Dayton

YWCA Dayton will honor seven women during its 2018 Women of Influence awards luncheon on March 8, 2018, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Dayton Convention Center. This year marks the 21st anniversary of the award; with an average attendance of 800, it is the single largest daytime nonprofit luncheon in Dayton.

Since 1998, the YWCA Dayton WOI Awards have recognized and honored the most influential women in the Dayton area, visionaries who have made a difference in our community through their dedication to the YWCA mission of empowering women, eliminating racism, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.

DESCRIPTION: Our Women of Influence awards features a fast-paced, hour-long luncheon program with several speakers and videos. Your role as stage manager would be to help ensure our speakers - including our seven Women of Influence Honorees - are mic’d up and meet their stage cues. You would also help ensure transitions are smooth and the program stays on time.

TRAINING: We hold two program rehearsals (see below) and our special events manager will also reach out to you with a full video of last year’s event, the program script, etc. in advance of the first rehearsal.

PREPARATION: Dress is business casual; please wear black so you blend with the stage decor. A jacket is recommended as the Dayton Convention Center tends to be chilly. Prior experience stage managing a performance and/or large event required. Must be enthusiastic, have good communication skills, and be able to walk/stand for an extended period.

WHEN:

Rehearsal 1: Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018 | 8-9:30 a.m. (YWCA Dayton, 141 W. Third St.)

Rehearsal 2: Wednesday, March 7, 2018 | 5-9 p.m. (Dayton Convention Center, 22 E. Fifth St.)

Event: Thursday, March 8, 2018 | 11 a.m.-1 p.m. (Dayton Convention Center)

WHERE: See above. For the day of the event, please report to Room 102 of the Dayton Convention Center, 22 E. Fifth St., Dayton, OH 45402 for volunteer check-in. Ample metered parking is available surrounding the Center, or garage parking is available for a fee in the Transportation Center Garage (entrance on East Fifth Street). Parking is not validated.

IMPACT: Your effort will help us ensure a smooth and successful Women of Influence Awards Luncheon, which is celebrating its 21 st year in 2018. The luncheon recognizes women leaders in our community who have made a significant impact on our region by using their influence and leadership to further and/or support the YW mission of eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.

This event is a signature fundraiser for YWCA Dayton, and all proceeds support our key programs: the only domestic violence shelters in Montgomery and Preble counties and the longest-running 24/7 crisis hotline (937-222-SAFE) in both counties; single-room occupancy housing for nearly 100 women in the Dayton area; and Girls Inc. afterschool and onsite programming that builds leadership development, self-esteem, and goal-planning in girls 11-18.

PERFECT FOR: Retired theatre professionals; theatre students and/or faculty; retired event planners.
