Alzheimer's Association Advocacy Day - February 22nd

Cause Areas

Thu Feb 22, 2018, 09:30 AM - 05:00 PM

250 S 5th StBoise, ID 83702

We are asking volunteers from across the state to come together to show our elected officials that their constituents want Idaho to be a more dementia capable and friendly state. The Alzheimer's Association's Advocacy Day will consist of a training session on how to share your story and make asks of your legislators, a wonderful lunch donated by BBQ4LIFE and an afternoon of partnering with other advocates to have 15-minute meetings with your elected officials.

This year we will be working with the Idaho Healthcare Association and AARP Idaho to ask our representatives to support two important pieces of proposed legislation:

1) A resolution to develop a model of care and Medicaid funding methodology for memory care units in Idaho

2) Patient Caregiver Support Act which would better prepare family caregivers to safely help Idaho seniors return to their homes after a hospital stay

Because Alzheimer's disease has no prevention, no treatment, and no cure, it can make those it touches feel helpless. Advocacy Day provides an opportunity for those people to have their voices heard and to do something concrete in the fight against this terrible disease. We hope that you will join us.
