Beat Cancer Kids

Beat Cancer Today is excited to announce new Pediatric Cancer Survivor and Pediatric Cancer Sibling Scholarships to provide financial assistance to survivors and siblings of individuals who have been diagnosed with pediatric cancer. The scholarships help qualified applicants pursue post-secondary education from accredited educational institutions.

The Beat Cancer Today Board of Directors is looking for a group of people to serve as the selection committee for these scholarships (there will be at least one scholarship of each type). Committee members will review all submissions and ultimately present their recommendation to the Board of which applicants should be awarded each scholarship. Volunteers will be required to review each application (which can be done on your own time) and then hold at least one meeting (can be in person or over a conference call) to discuss the applications and ultimately agree upon the awardees.

Full information on the scholarships, including Rules and FAQs, can be found on our website: http://beatcancertoday.storenvy.com/scholarships

No one on the selection committee can have an existing relationship with any of the applicants to avoid any conflict of interest. If you are interested in serving on this committee, please apply!

Mission Statement

Beat Cancer Today's mission is to create awareness of childhood cancers and to provide financial support for childhood cancer research, and for patient and family support programs.

Description

Formed by Iowa families whose children have been diagnosed with childhood cancer, Beat Cancer Today's mission is to create awareness of childhood cancers and to provide financial support for childhood cancer research, and for patient and family support programs. Beat Cancer Today raises funds through apparel sales and special events and distributes those funds to Children’s Cancer Connection, Children’s Oncology Group, and University of Iowa Dance Marathon.

While not all of our committee members are parents of children with cancer, we have all been touched by childhood cancer in some way and are committed to working hard to raise awareness of it and provide financial support for continued research and support programs.

Cancer is the #1 cause of death by disease in children, more than the next four childhood diseases combined.
