About

POSITIONS AVAILABLE: Multiple.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: To manage all aspects of on-site adoption events, including foster families and pets, volunteers, merchandise sales, DPA marketing, and related communications.

SALARY/PAYRATE: Volunteer.

TIME REQUIREMENT: 5-8 hours per event; approximately 10-20 per month depending on schedule.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Take charge of all aspects of adoption events from setup to cleanup.
  • Own responsibility for an assigned adoption event site and lead all events at that location (examples: pet stores, Community Beer Company, Klyde Warren Park, Starbucks).
  • Transport supplies to and from adoption event site, and set up and tear down at the event.
  • Ensure all event volunteers have assigned tasks, monitor their work, and provide feedback.
  • Monitor attendance of foster pets and troubleshoot any issues with foster parents.
  • Send end of day report to leadership and adoption events team, highlighting attendance, funds collected, adoption interest/applications, and any issues or challenges needing attention.
  • Engage the public actively at the event, answer questions about DPA and our mission, actively recruit for our volunteer and foster teams, and positively represent DPA at all times.
  • Deposit funds received at the event in the DPA bank account within two business days.
  • Escalate any serious issues (bites, dog fights, etc) immediately to Foster/Medical Director and/or VP Animal Operations.

CONTACTS WITH OTHERS: Correspondence with adoption events team and executive leadership team on a regular basis. Close interaction with DPA volunteers and foster families. Ongoing interaction with the public and DPA supporters. Frequent and close interaction with DPA foster pets.

CONTROLS OVER WORK : This position reports to the Adoption Events Director and the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be proficient with use of email and have regular phone access.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and maintain professional level correspondence at all times.
  • Must display a positive attitude at all times and present DPA in a positive manner to the public.
  • Must be able to handle and defuse challenging situations in a professional manner.
  • Must possess excellent problem solving ability, and ability to manage people.
  • Must have HS diploma or higher degree of education.
  • Must have independent mode of transportation.
