Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Fairfax CASA

We're in search of volunteers to help us with our eighth annual Fairfax Run for the Children 8K Race & 3K Run/Walk to benefit Fairfax CASA. It takes a team to execute this event which is our largest fundraiser of the year and want you to join us for this one day opportunity to contribute to making this community event a success! See below for further descriptions of the types of volunteers we are looking for.

Set Up & Clean Up

Accrue community service hours while you help our staff set up and create the atmosphere of this event!

With this option, you can participate as both a runner/walker and volunteer!

Course Marshal

Serve as course marshal directing and cheering participants along the route. It will be your responsibility to keep the runners on course, restrain vehicle traffic, call 911 in case of an emergency, and add to the festive atmosphere by encouraging the runners/walkers on.

Details will be provided at orientation and as volunteers are dropped off at their specific location.

Water Station

If you like to be hands-on in keeping participants safe and hydrated, the Water Station is the place for you. Water Station volunteers set-up and hand-out water bottles and cups of water to runners and walkers.

This role does involve physical activity and the ability to lift 25 lbs. or more.

Registration and Packet Pick Up

Be a part of the anticipation and excitement before the big race! Check in runners and walkers, collect funds, hand out t-shirts & goodie bags.

Packet pick-up includes registering new runners/walkers. Athletes will pick up event information and their packets. This volunteer option is available for Thursday and Friday (or) Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning.

Bag Check

Help us keep track of runners and walkers belongings!

17 and under must have an adult present.

Food

Help hand out food to runners, walkers and other volunteers on race day! Our various food vendors require minimal assistance.

Promotions and Outreach

Before the race be a part of recruiting volunteers and engaging potential runners, walkers and racers in the Fairfax County community!

Share information on social media, hand out flyers and postcards at local events, and join our staff at fun outings to promote the race.
