You are one of two people.
(1) YOU LOVE TO TEACH. You love to share knowledge, see that lightbulb light up. Nothing feels better than to see the proficiency you can help others achieve. That warm feeling of pride comes when you get to watch individuals or teams you have built, do great things.
(2) YOU LOVE TO ORGANIZE. The challenge of creating a smooth process...the balancing of many factors and demands....solving bottlenecks, improvising solutions, building a team that can do so much more than the individual pieces...taking a basic process that you can change and tweaking to make it work incrementally better....getting a warm feeling watching the teams you have built do great things.
If you are either of these people, we need you. We are a local non-profit, 12 years old, 100% volunteer, and we each give whatever time we have without guilt or expectations. And at Changing Footprints, you do what you are best at - what you love. In this case, leading groups (scouts, adults, churches, sports teams) to sort shoes. In 2016, we sorted and distributed 25,000 pairs of shoes in Indianapolis to those in need. In 2017, 46,000 pair. In 2018: depends on you. Each group sorts 500 - 2000 pair. How many groups could you teach, and if you find something in the process that could work better, would you change it?

P.S. We have volunteers who are handicapped, those that are retired and take 4 months off during cold weather, some that help out every month or two. We each give the time we have, when we can.
Call us and put in a few hours when you can, changing the world two feet at a time.

About Changing Footprints
Location:
10291 N. Meridian, Locations in Rushville, Indianapolis, Greenfield, INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46290, US
Mission Statement
Changing Footprints realizes the great need for shoes around the world as protection from diseases and a gateway to education. Because of that need we collect new and gently used shoes for distribution to homeless, disaster-stricken, or underprivileged people locally, nationally, and internationally regardless of race, religion, gender, or ethnicity.
Description
Changing Footprints collects used shoes from a variety of sources: collection bins at shoe stores and churches, shoe drives by schools, churches, civic and governmental agencies, and donations of customer returns by shoe companies. We sort, classify by type, and quality check, and then provide the right type of shoes at no charge to agencies, individuals, and organizations who put them on the feet of those in need. We are a 100% volunteer organization with no paid staff and provide 15,000 pair of shoes per year to those in need, locally, in the US, and to international destinations. This diverts shoes otherwise destined for landfills to a important cause, educates our youth that they can make a personal difference, helps those in need, as well as those that volunteer their time, effort, and ideas. We are a flat organization that supports any volunteer with an idea they would like to try - in the words of our youth, "it's all good".
