Girls on the Run of Central Ohio 5K
Girls on the Run CAN!

The Girls on the Run 5K is an experience like none other. Girls on the Run of Central Ohio hosts two 5K events each year. The GOTR 5K is the culminating event of a 10-week, 20-lesson season for the girls: It is a non-competitive 5k (3.1 mile) event in which the girls run, walk, skip and twirl with their volunteer coaches, family and community members. The event is entirely volunteer run and led for approximately 1,500 girls, 1,000 coaches, and community runners, and 3,000 spectators. The 2018 5K events will be held on May 20, 2018 and November 2018 (date TBD). The 5K committee meets monthly is in need of members on the In-kind subcommittee. Subcommittee members ask for in-kind donations from local businesses and contacts of food and beverage items, activity station donation, and similar. Description

Girls on the Run of Central Ohio (GOTRCO) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) that was founded in 2008 to empower girls in central Ohio as they face new challenges from middle childhood through adolescence, from 3 rd through 8 th grades. The curriculum is delivered by trained and supportive volunteers that act as mentors and role models as the girls are taught how to implement strategies to (1) Empower healthy choices, (2) Increase confidence and self-awareness, (3) Strengthen character, (4) Enhance life skills and competence, (5) Respond to themselves and peers with care and compassion, (6) Create positive social relationships with peers and adults, and (7) Strengthen community awareness and connectedness.
