ORGANIZATION: VILLAGES NW - METRO
Please visit the new page to apply.
Would you like to help Villages grow and realize the dream of a strong community that prolongs independent living for elders here in the Pacific Northwest? The Villages NW Board is seeking an accounting professional with the experience and analytical skills to help the organization mature and to oversee all financial operations of the organization.
The treasurer would be responsible for supervising the work of the professional contracted accountant as well as additional volunteers who would carry out the day to day functions of accounts payable, accounts receivable and funds transfers.
The Treasurer would be expected to serve as a member of the Board of Directors and provide regular financial reports to the Board. Additional responsibilities include a monthly Board meeting, typically on the third Wednesday of the month from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and a quarterly meeting with Village leaders, typically on the first Wednesday of February, May, August and November, from 7:00-9:00 p.m.
The Board of Directors would like to fill the Treasurer position as soon as possible with a person who is experienced in professional accounting and making a positive impact on our community.
Interested candidates should contact Interim Treasurer, Charlie Meyer at treasurer@villagesnw.org for additional details.

Mission Statement
Villages NW is reshaping the experience of aging. We keep older adults connected and active, contributing members of the community. With 11 neighborhood-based virtual villages, seniors make new friends close to home, participate in online coffees, happy hours and other social activities. We also help each other out when needed with neighbor-to-neighbor home maintenance, yard work and errands.
Description
The Village Movement is a holistic approach to vibrant, healthy aging. It combines a meaningful purpose in life; finding new friends as we begin to lose spouses and see less of long-time friends and neighbors; familiar surroundings; and preserving financial assets against the day when a higher level of care might be necessary. In addition to these quality of life issues, Villages fill gaps in support and services, which enable older adults to live independently.
We have 11 neighborhood-based villages with 600 members and a comparable number of volunteers in the Greater Portland Metro area. About half of our volunteers are also members.
Villagers are members rather than clients. About half volunteer in some way whether it is driving someone to the doctor, doing a little yard work, checking in with a member who is mostly homebound, working on activities or doing Village support.
