This new service area is an excellent opportunity to have patient interaction via the phone and learn about the patient experience and issue resolution process. These volunteers will assist us in getting feedback from patients to gather more information on our areas of improvement (and kudos) to elevate us to world class. The volunteers will be trained by our Patient Experience department and in-house communication experts.

Description
Tampa General is a private not-for-profit hospital and one of the most comprehensive medical facilities in West Central Florida serving a dozen counties with a population in excess of 4 million. As one of the largest hospitals in Florida, Tampa General is licensed for 1,007 beds, and with more than 8,000 employees, is one of the region’s largest employers. Tampa General Hospital has been affiliated with the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine since the school was created in the early 1970s. Tampa General is the primary teaching hospital of the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine and over 300 residents and 100 fellows are assigned to Tampa General Hospital for specialty training in areas ranging from general internal medicine to neurosurgery.
In addition, USF medical students, nurses and physical therapy students all receive part of their training at Tampa General. Faculty of the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine admit and care for patients at Tampa General as do community physicians, many of whom also serve as adjunct clinical faculty. TGH is the area’s only level I trauma center and one of just five burn centers in Florida to have earned Verification by the American Burn Association/American College of Surgeons and one of only two ABA-verified adult and pediatric burn centers in Florida.
