Fairfax Station RR Museum
Fairfax County's "Little Gem"

The Fairfax Station Railroad Museum is looking for enthusiastic volunteers who can help lead various educational activities and programs. These include reading circles, crafts, hands-on days and summer mini-camps with content focusing on museum themes of railroads in Northern Virginia, the importance of Fairfax Station in the Civil War and life in a small village in Fairfax County.

Volunteers must be able to interact with younger visitors. Educational/teaching experience is a plus but museum volunteers will provide training as needed. The museum will provide content for all programs but volunteers are encouraged to suggest improvements and introduce new topics/activities once they feel comfortable with the museum.

Interest in local history is a plus and strong commitments to education and community service are musts. Programs generally take place during open hours (1:00-4:00 on most Sundays) but volunteers also are needed for 1-2 summer mini-camps, each expected to last 3-4 hours for two consecutive days. Volunteers will need to spend time on planning and coordination to assure smooth implementation of programs.
