Assist Spanish speaking patients during their visits to Catholic Charities medical clinic in Silver Spring/Wheaton by providing interpretation. You will serve people in our care under the direct supervision of a medical provider.
Volunteer Medical Interpreter openings for January-June 2018 are: M, W, TH from 9:00-4:00, TU 1:00-4:30 and FR 8:30-12:00.
Preferably, volunteers will have appropriate certification and/or experience in medical interpreting and serve on a consistent schedule, such as one day a week for six months.
Prospective volunteers who compete the Volunteer Medical Interpreter application at www.CatholicCharitiesDC.org/volunteer (or http://bttr.im/5lly8) will be interviewed and accepted by the medical director who is looking for volunteers with a heart for service, a can-do attitude, and capacity to commit to the role. Once accepted, prospective volunteers must complete the volunteer connecting process: orientation, background check, reference check with in 30 days.
Catholic Charities' McCarrick Medical Clinic is at 12447 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20902. It is approximately 1/2 mile from the Glenmont Metro on the Red Line and accessible via several bus lines.
