Be trained by our Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Bereavement Coordinator in providing comfort, care and compassion to grieving families and caregivers.

Roles and responsibilities of Bereavement Support Volunteers may include:

  • Assisting with bereavement admin projects and tasks
  • Calling families and caregivers for follow up support & Support Group reminders
  • Potential to be asked to Co-Facilitate grief support groups (after a training)
  • Participate in the planning & organization of an annual memorial celebration to support families and caregivers
  • Make a pot of Soup (reimbursed for grocery items) or our ritual/recipe of Chocolate Sheet Cake (also reimbursable for grocery items) or for a monthly bereavement program & join us in eating it/meeting others in the first year of their bereavement. (Leadership roles available, as well as greeters & helpers writing name tags)
  • Work on simple art projects that involve tasks such as nice cursive handwriting and cutting leaves for our memorial tree
