We are seeking unpaid interns and volunteers who are looking to gain experience working with adolescents in various capacities - teaching a small class, supervising activities, engaging in games, and more. This position also provides work experience in financial transactions, managing members and enrollment, marketing, and customer service. We provide opportunities to our interns and volunteers around managing our all-ages concerts and our monthly visual art shows.

There are two shifts. One begins at 1:45pm and ends at 6:45pm and another begins at 6:00pm and ends no later than 11:00pm, Monday through Saturday. Interns have the opportunity to have a flexible schedule with a minimum commitment of one day a week to a maximum of five days a week.

All teen center interns are required to be 18 years or older and have earned a high school diploma or equivalent. Volunteers and interns working concerts and art shows must be at least 15 years of age. Our unpaid Interns are compensated in letters of reference, possible class credit, and resume building. Our interns and volunteers gain free admission for themselves and a friend for all of The Silver Orange all ages concerts and art shows. We support our staff who are currently going to school, and at times, they are even able to work on classwork on the job!

Please contact Emily Weller by responding to this post or at (916) 228-4169 with your resume and contact information, and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Mission Statement

The mission of The Silver Orange is twofold: To provide an inspiring, social, and encouraging environment for teens (11-17) to come hang out with their friends, explore their interests, try new activities, and engage in experiences that spark growth and fulfillment while creating a place that they can call their own. To support the creative expression and development of local up-and-coming artists and musicians, including providing one of the few all-ages music venues in Sacramento and an art gallery, which features a new artist every month.

Description

The Silver Orange is a place for teens (ages 11 - 17) to come hang out with their friends, explore their interests, try new activities, and to engage in creating a place that they can call their own. Our goal is to create a safe environment that sparks creativity, socialization, and a great time.

We have board games, Foosball, billiards, video games, digital art and music computers, a variety of instruments, an art space, snack bar, turntable with records, and so much more. Come hang out with us! If you’d like to see something added, let us know. This place is for you!

We are also one of a small handful of all-ages music and art venues that work diligently to support the scene for young musicians and artists. We host at least one concert every week and one art show every month, and are available for bookings by bands and other types of event coordinators.
