Women In Comedy is a non profit 501(c)3 headquartered in the comedy mecca of the United States - Chicago, IL. We've been featured in ELLE Magazine, The Washington Post, Full Frontal With Samantha Bee, NY Magazine, Jezebel, Buzzfeed.... shall we go on? haha.

Our organization is very new and runs 100% volunteer efforts and donations. This is your chance to be a leader and get in on the ground floor of an exciting movement. We are an inclusive organization providing free and low cost resources to women and girls seeking paid careers in comedy. We are establishing chapters of female comedians in all cities to create the first and only international professional network of comedic women and resources for women working in comedy (or aspiring to!).

We believe in educating, empowering, and connecting powerful, ambitious, hilarious, and talented women in the comedy industry through resources that foster their professional development and advancement. Through our online and real life community we promote the creation of personal relationships, business relationships, and mentoring relationships in order to advance and increase women's voices, presence, and pay scale in the comedy industry.

ROLE TITLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The chapter city President, along with a committee of their peers, is responsible to implement 3 successful live events over the course of one year to bring funny women together in order to empower, connect, and advocate for them.

GENERAL OVERVIEW

• Responsible for overall logistics needs for your city and overseeing successful completion of events by a committee of peers
• Responsible for following timelines given by national headquarters
• Responsible for maintaining an accountable committee of passionate volunteers
• Responsible for filling in and/or delegating tasks that have not been completed to ensure success
• Responsible for attending and running weekly in person meetings with committee
• Responsible for being the "tie breaker"/making final decisions when a consensus cannot be reached amongst the local committee
• Delegates as needed
• Helps recruit replacement volunteers for the next year’s committee

TIME COMMITMENTS & SCHEDULE

This volunteer role consistently contributes 10 hrs per week of volunteer time. This number of hours may fluctuate and be higher the week prior to the live event.

• 2 hrs per week "in person" weekly meetings with your committee
• 1-2 hrs per week weekly national virtual calls
• 2-6 hrs per week independently completing delegated tasks within required deadlines
