About Africa Bridge

Location:

PO Box 115, Marylhurst, OR 97036, US

Mission Statement

Africa Bridge engages with villagers and local leaders to develop sustainable socioeconomic solutions that help to protect and care for vulnerable children, lifting them and their communities out of extreme poverty.

Description

Africa Bridge works in isolated rural villages in Tanzania, where the incidence of HIV/AIDS is high and children are vulnerable due to poverty and loss of parents. Over 70,000 people have been impacted by the program to end extreme poverty. We form village-based committees; members develop skills needed to identify and support vulnerable children. Families caring for vulnerable children are organized into income-generating farm cooperatives; members receive seedlings, animals, training and support.

Many types of training are provided to improve health and nutrition. Training is also provided to increase awareness of legal rights. Africa Bridge completes projects in 5 years, leaving sustainable gains and stronger villages.
