Skills Needed: Grassroots Marketing - Strategic Planning - Event Logistics
The American Diabetes Association is seeking highly motivated skills-based volunteers for the 2019 Garden State Tour de Cure Planning Committee. This event will take place in June 2019 at Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ, and will feature four cycling routes, a 5K run and a 5K walk.

We're looking for professionals who can offer up their talents in the areas of marketing, strategic planning and event logistics. More specifically, volunteer committee members are needed to help with the recruitment of participants through grassroots community outreach; developing a comprehensive marketing strategy on a shoestring budget; and enhancing the participant experience through logistics including entertainment, food, rest stops, volunteer management, etc.

The committee meets monthly for one hour. Members can also expect to spend approximately 2-3 hours a month executing action items, depending on their role. For more information, please contact Katy Lido at klido@diabetes.org.

Description

Volunteer Power
The moving force behind our work is a network of more than one million volunteers nation wide, including a membership of 430,000 diabetes patients and their families, and a professional society of more than 18,000 physicians, scientists, certified diabetes educators, nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, social workers, and educators.

In addition to our well know fund-raising events, the ADA provides learning sessions and information through a variety of community-based presentations and activities focused on reaching the diagnosed and those at high risk for diabetes. These free presentations include bi-lingual information on the importance of physical activity, making healthy food choices, food portion control and much more. Last year our outreach efforts reached several thousand people in the state of New Jersey alone. We couldn't have done this without the support from volunteers like you. Volunteering is rewarding and you can be assured that you have made a difference in someone's life.
