Help us recycle!

The Young Women's Resource Center needs help keeping our recycling manageable! We are invested in recycling as much as possible, but need a volunteer to help. We would like a weekly or bi-weekly volunteer to stop by our center and pick up all of our bulk cardboard that needs to be recycled. Once picked up in your vehicle, we ask that you take that recycling to the nearest Metro Waste drop off center, which is:
International Paper
2800 Dixon St.
Des Moines, Iowa 50316
Phone: 515.244.0021

This would be an immense help to use as this task would otherwise utilize staff time and allows us to continue our goal of being an efficient and eco-friendly organization. If you're looking for a flexible, quick volunteer opportunity that would make a big impact, this is the one for you!

The Vision of the Young Women's Resource Center is that in our community, young women realize their full potential.

Description

The Young Women's Resource Center serves more than 1,600 young women each year through our 13 programs, including: support groups, individual counseling, and in-school and after-school programs.

Founded in 1978, this non-profit agency provides gender specific services to all young women ages 10-21 in central Iowa. Founder Louise Noun and other community leaders believed young women needed a safe place to receive support, education, and advocacy. A wide variety of services surrounding perinatal services and prevention services are provided in schools, community organizations, and at the Center.
