Compost Specialist
We are a Food Shelf that believes in composting! Come and help us stay environmentally friendly and continue the food cycle by composting!
The Details:
Days: Fridays from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.
How many: 2
Job Duties: Volunteers remove food (produce, bread, etc.) from plastic bags and containers and place in compost bin and then recycle plastic bags and containers.
Supervised by: Caleb Mingus, our fabulous Program Coordinator!
Training: Ya sure, you betcha there will be training.
What do you need to bring? Smiles, strong muscles, willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds, willing to get dirty sometimes! Oh yeah, and wear closed-toe, comfy shoes. It’s for health and safety reasons and it’s a concrete floor...
What’s in it for you? The knowledge that you will help keep spoiled food and plastic from landfills, provide food for composting and being a part of the food cycle. HUGE!!!! You will make it happen! Acknowledgement from staff, volunteers and clients that you are a fabulous part of our team at Valley Outreach. Maybe make new friends and have fun while you work!

Valley Outreach is a bridge between the crisis of the moment and the solution of the future. We help our St. Croix Valley neighbors in need of food, clothing, emergency financial assistance, and other support while respecting their individual dignity and offering them encouragement and hope.
Description
What started as the St. Croix Valley Emergency Food Shelf in 1983 has grown into the place our neighbors turn to during challenging times. Today Valley Outreach is the only non-profit in the valley that provides clients with a range of support - whether they need food, clothing, and personalized client services.
We’ve learned a lot in 35 years, but nothing more important than this: everybody needs help. And as long as there is need, Valley Outreach will be here - taking care of our community, and making us all a little healthier, stronger and more stable.
Valley Outreach is a community based, community-supported, privately funded non-profit organization serving our St. Croix Valley neighbors in need of food, clothing, and emergency financial assistance. Our Food Shelf provides food and other necessities. The Clothing Closet provides gently used clothing at no cost to men, women and children. Our Emergency Fund provides emergency financial assistance to help families in crisis.
